The Country Office is located in Kampala, with two field offices in Kumi and Masindi.
BAU is seeking to recruit an experienced and motivated individual as Finance and Administration Manager (FAM).
Job Profile: This post is accountable for the quality of Build Africa Uganda’s support services to include Finance, administration & ICT. The post is responsible for the disbursement of donor and BAU funds ensuring strict compliance with all financial and budgetary procedures. It will also be responsible for compliance to donor/BAU procurement and logistics policy. As a member of BAU’s Senior Management Team (SMT), the post holder will play a key role in the overall leadership and direction of Build Africa Uganda, acting as a role model for staff. An essential requirement for the role is to work with the Country Director to define and provide regular reporting suitable for senior management. The post is located in Kampala with significant travel to the field and occasional travel to other Build Africa locations, including Kenya.

- Supervise office administrator, Finance officer, and Provide technical supervision to field office Finance & Administration Assistants;
Duties & Responsibilities
- Full membership of BAU’s SMT, playing a supportive team role in the management of BAU;
- To work closely with programme staff, whether in Kampala or the field offices, to ensure that all financial transactions and controls, are guided by a strong understanding of BAU’s programme operations;
- To ensure that all financial reports are consistent with programmatic events and reports;
- To serve BAU’s Board, preparing papers for Board and Committee meetings and attending these meetings;
- To Respond to requests for information from BAUK and to take part in such activities covering all BA locations as may be authorised by BAU’s Country Director.
- Develop a good working relationship with BAUK’s Director of Resources.
Key Accountabilities:
- Budget development, monitoring and reporting.
- Financial accounting and reporting.
- Internal financial controls and policy compliance.
- Staff development and performance of Finance and Administration Officers.
- Procurement to ensure value for money and compliance to procurement procedures.
- Governance to ensure tax and legal compliance requirements that the organisation is subject to.
- Any other duty as assigned by the Line Manager.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
- A Bachelor of Commerce or related degree from a recognised University with an Accounting bias.
- A minimum of at least five years’ experience with an NGO in Accountancy, Financial Management, Audit and Procurement.
- Possession of professional qualifications like ACCA, CPA will be an added advantage.
- A person of high integrity that will model BAU’s core values.
