Engineering Assistant Job Opportunity at Ministry of Agriculture
Government of Uganda (GoU) through Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF) received a grant from the Government of Japan to increase capabilities to cope with impacts of climate change. The funds among other things are to support a skeletal staff to operate the procured heavy earth moving equipment to develop infrastructure for increasing access to Water for Agricultural Production (irrigation, water for livestock and aquaculture) and to enhance agricultural mechanization as one way to increase capabilities to cope with impacts of climate change.

Duties
The incumbent will be responsible for performance of the following duties:
· In charge of day to day works operations of the unit
· To draw daily schedules in consultation with the Project Engineer and document daily activities
· To ensure that all the equipment are in good working condition
· To ensure that the machines are serviced, oiled, cleaned and washed and are always parked well.
· To ensure that the minor repairs are carried out as per schedule.
· To ensure that Log books for each machine are in order
· Responsible for Stores records ledgers.
· To write weekly reports on field work activities.
· Any other duties as assigned by the supervisors.
Qualifications and Experience
· Diploma in Agricultural Engineering/Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
· Five years experience in a Government or private management of equipment.
Knowledge and Skills
· Must possess good communication and interpersonal skills
· Must be self motivated and self driven and able to meet deadlines.
· Must be able to work and reside under field/rural conditions.
