Communications Officer Job at Uganda Land Alliance

Job Title: Communications Officer (1 position)
Reports to: Coordinator Membership, Communication and Capacity building
Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda.
Contract period: Two years renewable
Uganda Land Alliance is a consortium of National and International NGOs and individuals focusing on advocacy on Land and Land Rights promotion and protecting the interests of the poor, vulnerable and marginalized groups of people and individuals through the promotion of fair 1 laws and policies aimed at protecting their land rights. Uganda Land Alliance intends to recruit a dynamic and self driven person to fill the post of Communications Officer
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement the ULA communications strategy
  • Develop relations with key activists/stakeholders at local, national and regional level to support the advancement of land rights
  • Support ULA campaigns and partner programs.
  • Write and distribute Organizational announcements.
  • Develop and implement shared partnership communication tools, systems and strategies among the ULA membership and other stakeholders
  • Coordinate and collaborate closely with other ULA projects, and NGOs implementing the communication strategy
  • Facilitate the communication of key corporate messages for ULA
  • Champion cultural change to achieve communication excellence
  • Provide opportunities for collaboration and sharing of experiences and lessons among ULA projects and externally with likeminded organizations
  • Lead on the copy writing and production of ULA publications includ­ing News letters
  • Ensure ongoing National Input among ULA membership and stake­holders towards creating a shared corporate vision and celebrating ULA achievement
  • Develop publicity materials (printed or e-mail format) for ULA activities
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications or related field obtained from a reputable University with minimum of 3 years experience working in the field of communications and ability to demonstrate knowledge of a broad range of communications activities
