Government of Uganda (GoU) through Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF) received a grant from the Government of Japan to increase capabilities to cope with impacts of climate change. The funds among other things are to support a skeletal staff to operate the procured heavy earth moving equipment to develop infrastructure for increasing access to Water for Agricultural Production (irrigation, water for livestock and aquaculture) and to enhance agricultural mechanization as one way to increase capabilities to cope with impacts of climate change.

Duties
The incumbent will be responsible for performance of the following duties: –
· To assist the project manager in technical and administrative leadership for the efficient and effective management and use of the equipment
· Responsible for day to management of all the equipment
· To compiles and analyze data on deployment, management and maintenance of the equipment on a day to day basis
· To create awareness about the services and benefits offered by Unit in a consistent and coordinated manner
· Responsible for training of staff operators, drivers and farmers on maintenance and service of machinery as well as water and any other agricultural infrastructure
· To provide technical guidance to Engineering assistants
· Any other duties assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications and Experience
· An Honour’s Bachelors degree in Agricultural Engineering or Civil Engineering/or Mechanical Engineering
· Registered with applicable Engineers professional body
· Three years of relevant working experience from a reputable organisation
Knowledge and Skills
· Knowledge of Uganda’s policies, legislation, standards, regulations,
· Ability to operate heavy equipment and machinery; work with Local communities in the different regions of Uganda
· Well developed leadership, interpersonal and excellent oral/written- communication skills,
· Well developed analytical and reporting skills and should be computer literate
