15 Plant Operators needed at Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries

Government of Uganda (GoU) through Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF) received a grant from the Government of Japan to increase capabilities to cope with impacts of climate change. The funds among other things are to support a skeletal staff to operate the procured heavy earth moving equipment to develop infrastructure for increasing access to Water for Agricultural Production (irrigation, water for livestock and aquaculture) and to enhance agricultural mechanization as one way to increase capabilities to cope with impacts of climate change.

Duties/Responsibilities
The incumbent will be responsible for performance of the following duties: –
·         To operate the plant according to the operators manual.
·         To ensure machines are in good working condition (check the water) before operations start in the morning.
·         To ensure that the plant is always clean after work.
·         To ensure that the plant is well grease.
·         To report any minor or major faults to the Engineering Assistant.
·         Ensure log book is properly filled before operations i.e. every morning.
·         Ensure the plant is parked in the appropriate and secure place after work
·         Any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications and Experience
·         Ordinary level (UCE) certificate with a pass in English
·         Certificate of heavy machine operator from a recognized institution.
·         Experience of at least 3 years operating a relevant machine.
Knowledge and Skills
·         Able-to work in a team and able to work and stay under field/ rural conditions
