National Medical Stores is an autonomous Corporation that was established by an Act of Parliament 1993. Our mandate is to procure, store and distribute medicines and other medical supplies to public health facilities
Our vision is “A Population with Adequate and Accessible Quality Medicines and Medical Supplies” Our Mission is “To effectively and efficiently supply essential medicines and Medical Supplies to Public Health Facilities in Uganda.” We are now looking for competent persons who possess appropriate skills, knowledge and right attitude to till vacant positions which have arisen as a result of our expanded mandate. Job Title: Estates Officer
Scale: NMS4U
Reporting to: Head of Human Resource and Support Services.
Location of the job: Entebbe
Purpose of the job: To perform maintenance of building structures, power plants, water and sewage systems, waste and disposal units, and developing architectural structures. He or She will be in charge of the Occupational Healthy Safety and Environment matters of the Corporation.
Key Result Areas/ Accountabilities
· To perform maintenance of building structures, power plants, water and sewage systems, waste and disposal units, and developing architectural structures.
· Inspect project sites to monitor progress and ensure conformance to the design specifications and standards.
· Prepare bids for tenders related to civil engineering
· Investigate and report on complaints on hazardous waste management.
· To develop, implement corporation Occupational Health and Safety policy, programmes and procedures
· To establish best proposals for operation of Occupational Health and Safety and training
· To increase health and Safety awareness at all levels within the Corporation.
· To investigate and report on all serious/critical personal injury accidents occurring to employees of NMS.
· To supervise preparation of structural designs and construction works undertaken by NMS.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
· An Honour’s degree in Civil Engineering or its equivalent from a recognized University
· A qualification in Occupational Health and Safety and Environment is an added advantage.
· Two years experience in Civil Engineering.
