Programme Officer Job at ANPPCAN in Uganda


The African Network for the Prevention and Protection against Child Abuse and Neglect (ANPPCAN) Uganda Chapter is a national child focused organization working to protect and promote the rights of children with particular focus on preventing and redressing violations of children’s rights. ANPPCAN Uganda Chapter seeks to recruit competent dynamic and creative individuals to join her team of passionate child advocacy professionals in the following position:

Position: Programme Officer
Program Development, Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E)
Duly Station: Secretariat Reports to: Programme Manager

Major Responsibilities
Responsible for supporting the design, monitoring and evaluation of programs, as well as program design, monitoring and evaluation related capacity building of relevant ANPPCAN and paitner staff and knowledge management.

Specific Tasks:
• Support programming processes, including, needs assessments, establishment of goals and objectives, setting of indicators, development of implementation plans, M&E plans, evaluation and reporting as per relevant
donor standards
•    Prepare and ensure timely submission of competitive grants proposals to donors
• Participate in planning and writing of ANPPCAN Uganda work plans, reports and other periodical program documentation
• Develop and deploy appropriate evaluation plans and tools and write evaluation reports
•    Conduct regular monitoring visits to programs and provide detailed monitoring reports
Conduct program/project evaluations and prepare reports
Provide program design, monitoring and evaluation-related capacity building for relevant staff
Undertake knowledge management within ANPPCAN Uganda, working with the Information Office to prepare and publish stories based on ANPPCAN Uganda work, best practice and lessons learned

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
·         Minimum of a Degree in Social Work and Social Administration, Social Sciences, Project Planning and Management, Development Studies or related field obtained from a recognized institution, with a strong M&E component;
·         Thorough understanding of the child rights situation in Uganda;
·         Strong analytical skills;
·         Sound verbal and written communication
·         Skills in English;
·          Demonstrated ability to transfer knowledge through informal and formal methods;
·         Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work in a team and cultural sensitivity;
·         Excellent organizational and time management skills;
·          Computer proficiency in the whole MS Office package plus Epi-lnfo, SPSS;
·          Experience in program design and proposal writing;
·         Experience in alternative successful fundraising methods will be an added advantage;
·         Experience in M&E s donor standards
