Operations and Marketing Centre Manager Job at Auro Foundation in Uganda

Auro Foundation has an exciting opportunity for an experienced, highly driven and result oriented individual to fill the position of School Operations and marketing centre manager at the Auro technical school in Pajwenda- Tororo.
Job Position: The role will be based mainly in Pajwenda however occasional travel to Kampala will be required approximately once every month.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the administrative, educational operational and sales activities of the school.
  • He/ She will be responsible with managing the resources sent to the school, managing the volunteers that visit the school, ensuring the high academic standards are maintained and improved over time, managing the team of teachers and support staff at the school while maintaining his/her independence, promoting the interests of the school within the community, district and country at large as well as overseeing the continuous growth of the school.
  • He/ She will be responsible for delivering on the business plan and ensuring that the school becomes self sufficient over the next few years.
  • In addition, He/She will be expected to manage all the reports to donors and impeccably maintain all the school records.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
  • The ideal candidate should have a high level of personal initiative, should pay attention to detail, have the ability to lead a team, and have a passion for development work in a rural setting.
  • He/she should possess strong entrepreneurial qualities with the ability to produce monthly accounts and financial statements for auditors.
  • He/she should be capable of working with a team and should be able to motivate and organize a team to ensure set targets are met.
  • He/ She should be driven by the need to make a lasting impact on society.
  • Owing to the nature of the work, the ideal candidate should have at least 3 years experience working with an NGO or a school in a senior management / administrative position with a minimum of a Bachelors degree in Social work and social administration, social sciences, development studies or Education from a recognized institution of higher learning.
  • Having a proven track record of excellence, proactivity, drive and a willingness to offer a long term commitment to the job will support your application.

In addition, the ideal candidate should have:

  • Leadership qualities with experience working in a team setting
  • Ability to make responsible decisions by relying on his/her own initiative
  • A high level of transparency in his/her operations
  • Experience working with a school, preferably in a technical / vocational setting
  • Knowledge of Ugandan education system and curriculum.
  • Good computer skills and proficient in excel, MS word and power point
  • Previous team management responsibilities.
  • Sound planning, organizational, prioritization and multi-tasking abilities to work in a fast paced, pressurised and busy environment.
  • Have excellent forecasting and reporting skills
  • A strong work ethic characterized by a willingness to work long hours including on Saturdays if the need arises.
  • Capability to exercise authority to give results in accordance with the business plan and policies of the Auro Foundation.
Note: The role will be varied and interesting. You will be responsible for managing the operation functions of the school What you need to know
  1. Work will be based in Tororo and in Kampala as required by management but initially more time will be spent in Pajwenda, Tororo.
  2. Standard hours are from 08:00-17:00 but occasional long hours will be expected from Monday to Saturday.
