Head of Communication and Media Relations at the Uganda National Charter of Commerce and Industry

We are retained by the Uganda National Charter of Commerce and Industry, UNCCI to identify competent Ugandans to fill the posts below based at the Secretariat Offices in Kampala, Uganda. UNCCI is the oldest and largest nation-wide umbrella organiza­tion of the private sector in Uganda. UNCCI was set in 1933; but established in 1978 under the Companies Act, Cap 110 as a company limited by guarantee with no share capital, to become a leading private sector body in Uganda with an influential network for business opportunities. Its mission is to provide services and advocacy to create a conducive and sustainable business envi­ronment in Uganda. In implementing its programs, the Chamber collaborates and networks with various local, regional and inter­national partners and affiliates.  Our Client is looking for highly motivated, creative and competent persons to lead its strategic programs (enshrined in its Strategic Plan, 2010-15). They must be able to innovate to make UNCCI vibrant and productive. The posts are tenable for a period of three (3) years and carry competitive benefits
Head of Communication and Media Relations
Reporting to the Secretary General, the main responsibility of the Head Communications & Media Development will be marketing and branding the Chamber; and implementing its communications strategies and overseeing its media coverage.
Main responsibilities:-
He/she will:
·         Build a strong loyal membership base for the Chamber
·         Supervise the production of the UNCCI newsletter /magazine/ business directory
·         Manage all PR information at UNCCI Secretariat and handle all the corporate relations
·         Handle all public level incidents for daily business environment agenda
·         Collect or create information that the UNCCI requires in order to offer services to its members
·         Liaise with media and other relevant organizations to ensure that the information collected or created is disseminated to members of the UNCCI and staff in an appropriate and timely manner.
·         Ensure regular dispatch of information is made to the mem­bers at minimum period of once every month.
·         Ensure that all information received by the UNCCI is arranged, organized and stored safely.
·         Process information coming from UNCCI stakeholders with a view of repackaging it for easy use by members
·         Ensure that all UNCCI activities are adequately covered by the relevant media and are organized to the highest standard in order to portray a high profile image for the UNCCI.
·         Maintain a photo catalogue, a video/DVD catalogue and news­paper cuttings of all the UNCCI events for record purposes. Generate content for UNCCI reports,
dispatch, publications online/website.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
·         University degree in mass communications, social sciences or related fields.
·         Demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience in the design and execution of marketing, communications and public relations activities.
·         Strong creative, strategic, analytical, organizational and per­sonal sales skills.
·         Demonstrated successful experience writing press releases, making presentations and negotiating with the media.
·         Experience in overseeing the design and production of print materials and publications.
·         At least 3 years experience serving in the relevant field.
