Fixed Network Manager – Uganda Telecom

Position: Fixed Network Manager
Reporting to Network Operations and Maintenance Manager
Reporting to Network Operations and Maintenance Manager
Duties and Responsibilities
o Develop and implement operational guidelines for the team and ensure that they are adhered to. These will include quality control systems and Procedures to minimize downtime and maximize network performance.
o Create an OPEX budget with itemized limits and ensure its optimum and efficient utilization within these limits.
o Contribute to the development of the Technical Strategic Plan in line with the Corporate Strategy.
o Maintain an effective system of communications throughout the organization on network performance related issues and with key customers, equipment vendors and other contractors
o Manage the deployment of new fixed network technologies and services and ensure proper Network working relationships
o Performance Monitoring, Quality of Service Management and Reporting.
o Co-ordinate the objectives and work plans across all the staff members of the Fixed Network team to ensure strategic plans are met.
o Follow-up with other entities on network problems and ensure they are resolved within agreed KPIs.
o Develop and implement a spare tracking Procedure for the fixed network.
o Handle Performance Management and staff motivation issues appropriately and take steps to ensure that appropriate measures are taken to correct unsatisfactory results.
o Prepare and submit training plans and ensure effective training within the agreed timelines.
o Develop and implement a Succession plan.
o Ensure BCM (Business Continuity Management) within the department [Provision of tools and spares enough to run the network
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
Applicants must have;
o Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Telecommunications Engineering or any other relevant field.
o Postgraduate level in any related field is an added advantage.
o 5 years’ experience, 3 of which need to be in an Engineering Management Position.
