Finance and Administration Officer – Sense International

Sense International is the leading global charity supporting deaf and blind people in Bangladesh, India, Kenya, Tanzania, Peru, Romania and Uganda. We work with local organisations and governments to identify deaf and blind people and provide them with appropriate educational, health and vocational services to enable them to participate in and contribute to their communities. In order to ensure a lasting and sustainable impact we invest in local professionals and organisations, influence governments and advocate for change. It has its headquarters in UK, and a Regional Office in Nairobi. We are seeking to fill the vacancy of Finance and Administration Officer.
Reporting to the Country Representative, you will:
Ensure adherence to accounting procedures and systems, and internal controls.
Take an active role in the preparation of budgets and monitoring of budget expenditure.
Prepare periodic financial reports for the Country Representative and to the Regional Finance Manager in Nairobi.
Analyse the country programme’s cash needs and prepare requests for cash transfers.
Manage the general office book-keeping.
Management of the Cash Book and petty cash.
Management of the Enabler Accounting and Pay Manager accounting software.
Reconcile the Bank and ledger accounts.
Maintain and safe guard the fixed assets and current assets of Sense International (U).
Ensure that Sense International (U) is compliant with statutory regulations of Uganda.
Monitor the accounting by all organisations of grants extended to them by SI (EA).
Carry out general office administrative functions
Qualifications and Experience
Diploma in Financial management and Accounting, Business administration
A minimum of 2 years financial accounting experience with an NGO. A disability NGO is desirable
Experience in office practice and management You will demonstrate the following attributes:
Excellent communication skills, including verbal and written.
Good interpersonal skills.
Attention to detail.
Strong personal Integrity and discretion.
Ability to work to deadlines and prioritise workloads.
Ability to work independently and under minimal supervision.
Must be a Ugandan national or with legal right to remain and work in Uganda.
