Position: Communications Officer

Reports to: Impact Assessment/Shared Learning &
Communications Manager
Department: Programmes
Job Role:
To ensure implementation of the organizations communications, public relations
and campaign plans in line with the organization’s strategic direction and
programme objectives.



Key Results Areas
i. Deputize the Impact Assessment/Shared
Learning & Communications Manager in the implementation of the
Communications and campaigns strategy.
ii. Monitor and ensure compliance to ActionAid
International Uganda’s standards of documentation, branding and profiling of
ActionAid Uganda in line with organizational policies & international guidelines.
iii. Support partner organizations, programmes
units, sponsorship, and Local Rights Program’s in the process of systematic
collection of stories of change and case studies.
iv. Develop systematic ways of knowledge
management.
v. Maintain and manage the organizational
Resource Centre.
vi. Consolidate, design and roll out an
ActionAid International Uganda’s quarterly newsletter for internal and external
purposes and updates.
vii. Develop, maintain and grow digital media
usage and platforms such as blogging, website, face book, twitter, sms usage
and maintain and update the organizational website in accordance with ActionAid
International guidelines, policies and national laws and legislation.
viii. Strengthen media relations by organizing
regular interactions and field visits with the media.
ix. Draw up media plans for specific events, campaigns and coordinate the
hiring, drawing of contracts, monitoring & evaluating of their activities.
x. Coordinate visits by supporters, potential
donors; national and international media to the Country program and ensure that
they are availed information in the most suitable way to profile the
organization.
xi. Profile organizational events and
publications through various media in accordance with organizational policies.
xii. Any other duties as may be assigned by the
line manager
Qualifications & Experience
·        
An
Honour’s degree in either Information science, Journalism/Mass Communications,
Communications Science, Media Studies or Marketing from a recognized university.
·        
A
relevant postgraduate qualification will be an added advantage.
·        
At
least 1-2 years relevant experience from a reputable organization
