Chief of Party – Chemonics International

Chemonics International seeks a Chief of Party
for a USAID-funded project strengthening civil society organizations and local
governance institutions in Uganda. The project will support capacity building
of local government financial management, as well as civil society advocacy
strengthening for accountability and transparency in public service delivery.
Qualified
candidates will have successfully led projects resulting in:
  • Broadened support for civil society and advocacy efforts that
    provided constructive oversight to local governments;
  • Stronger procurement and auditing procedures at the local level;
  • Greater transparency and accountability in public service delivery,
    budgeting, and planning at the local level;
Position
Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in international development, public administration,
    law, social sciences, or other relevant field required;
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant work experience in planning and
    managing highly complex democracy and governance programs;
  • Prior USAID chief-of-party or deputy-chief-of-party experience
    strongly preferred;
  • Experience in and knowledge of Uganda, its people, and its local
    governing mechanisms preferred; experience in Sub-Saharan Africa required.
  • Fluency in English required.
  • Demonstrated experience working closely with and supporting
    governments in conflict or state-building conditions.
