World Vision Uganda is seeking to hire qualified persons to fill the following
positions.
Position:                  CHILD PROTECTION AND DEVELOPMENT MANAGER
Reports to:              Associate Director, Children in
Ministry
Duty Station:          National office with frequent field visits

Role
of the Position

The position will be responsible for the Protection of
children’s rights and guide Area Development Programs (ADPs) in integrating
children’s rights protection in programme design and implementation throughout
World Vision Uganda Programme Work. 
            

Key
Responsibilities

·        
Develop Child Protection Strategy in accordance
with the National Office context, East Africa Regional and International
strategic priorities
·        
Build the ADP’s capacity on child Protection and
Rights issues including guidance on how to access legal aid
·        
Provide technical support to ADPs in
mainstreaming Child Protection in design and implementation of programs.
·        
Guide ADPs in ensuring Child Participation is
done in an age-appropriate manner.
·        
Provide technical support to ADP staff on
integration and implementation of Child Protection interventions.
·        
Lobby and advocate with Children’s departments
and the National council for Children for the development of a National Child
protection Policy.
·        
Participate in resource mobilisation through
developing concept papers/proposals for funds
·        
Create awareness of child protection policies,
guidelines and behaviour protocols among staff
·        
Profile child rights violations for advocacy and
redress
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
·        
Must posses any of the following degrees:
Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) Social Work and Social Administration (SWSA)/Social
Sciences, Development Studies, Education.
·        
Post Graduate Qualification in Human Rights,
Development Studies from a recognized institution is an added advantage. 
·        
Sound understanding of social justice issues and
Human Rights with demonstrated experience in Children’s rights advocacy. 
·        
Ability to analyze and contribute to development
of policies, work in a multi cultural environment; carry out Social Research;
mobilize resources through proposals, concept notes and public appeals;
conceptualize, design and produce communication material, including message and
content development in the area of Child Rights protection campaigns;
·        
Excellent interpersonal skills and good Public
Relations skills a
·        
Ability to network with United Nations agencies
and other Child Rights Civil Society Organizations including the Church.
  • Must be a committed Christian
