Project Coordinator (Women Protection Centres Project) – Action Aid

ActionAid is an
International Development Agency working in over 50 countries in Africa, Asia,
Latin America and the Caribbean. ActionAid’s mission is to work with the poor
and the excluded people in the world to eradicate poverty by overcoming the
injustices and the inequity that cause it. ActionAid Uganda seeks to recruit
competent persons to fill the vacancies below;
Position:      Project Coordinator (Women Protection
Centres Project)
Reports to:     Program Coordinator
(Women’s Rights & HIV/AIDS)
Location:        Head Office -Kampala
Job Role:        To plan, manage; monitor
the implementation of the project in line with the
organization’s strategic plan and project objectives.
Key Result Areas
i. Provide leadership in the implementation of project activities in eight (8)
Women Protection Centres in Amuru, Katakwi,Kumi,Kween, Bwaise, Mubende, Nebbi,
and Pallisa.
ii. Develop project work plans and review them to meet changing needs and
requirements in line with the project guidelines,
iii. Coordinate and monitor all aspects of project implementation efficiently
and transparently in line with project standards and guidelines,
iv. Supervise implementing partners, Legal Officers, Counsellors, Project
Officers and coalitions in the various women protection centres,
v. Manage the project budget in accordance with organizational guidelines and
project expectations,
vi. Prepare and submit quarterly, bi annual and annual progress and financial
reports in line with organizational and project. guidelines,
vii. Analyse and document project experiences and lessons learned for shared
viii. Establish and maintain working relationships with implementing partners,
district and national stakeholders.
ix. Represent the organisation in key stakeholder fora, workshops and meetings
related to the project to raise the profile of the organization –
x. Attend to any other relevant project duties as may be assigned by the line
Qualification and Experience:
• A minimum of an Honour’ Degree in Development studies, Social sciences or Law
from a recognized institution.
• A relevant post graduate qualification and training in human rights based
approaches, Law, Gender, project planning and management, monitoring and
evaluation is an added advantage.
• At least 3-4 years of relevant working experience from a recognized
institution/organization. The applicants must be able to demonstrate the
following skills and abilities:
• Gender and Poverty analysis Human Rights Based approach.
• Policy analysis and advocacy.
• Planning, monitoring and evaluation. –
• Documentation and reporting Resource mobilization
• Participatory approaches Financial management
• Good interpersonal skills
