Managing Director – CPAR-UGANDA


CPAR-Uganda is
Ugandan registered, non-profit, non-governmental organization (NGO) that works
directly, and in collaboration with vulnerable populations to build healthy
communities through a broad framework of three thematic areas of health,
livelihoods /food security, peace building and conflict resolution. Over the
last 18 years, CPAR Uganda has implemented numerous projects on behalf of
various funding and donor agencies and organizations, including emergency
relief, humanitarian and long-term development initiatives. CPAR-Uganda is a
mid-sized National NGO operating in North and Northeastern Uganda.

Principal Functions
of the Managing Director:
The Managing Director
(MD) has the overall responsibility of providing leadership and managing
CPAR-Uganda Program operations to ensure the smooth running of the Program,
upholding CPAR-Uganda values with the ultimate aim of achieving CPAR’s goals
and objectives.
General
Responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership in development
    of the CPAR-Uganda strategic plan, its implementation, and the
    implementation of CPAR-Uganda’s policies.
  • Coordinate the necessary
    modification of organizational structures and systems with the aim of
    fulfilling CPAR- Uganda’s objectives and goals.
  • Identify, build and sustain
    linkages, relations, collaborations and networks with other donors and
    stakeholders for planning, implementation and advocacy and making timely
    communication with all partners on the country program issues that need
    consultations and decisions.
  • Ensuring development of effective
    and efficient systems of monitoring and evaluation of projects, timely
    preparation and submission of reports, (monthly, quarterly, and annual) to
    all stakeholders and partner offices to ensure tracking of progress and
    program interventions.
  • Liaise with Development partners
    to initiate new programs and or strengthen ongoing ones.
  • Oversee and ensure the
    development, implementation and execution of CPAR’s strategies through
    effective management of the human, financial and other resources.
  • Provide leadership to all staff to
    ensure the highest organizational performance in terms of service
    delivery. This includes performance evaluation of the program team and
    others as required.
  • Work closely with the CPAR-Uganda
    Board of Directors.
  • Work closely with the Program
    Manager to investigate funding opportunities and develop proposals for
    resource mobilization.
JOB REQUIREMENTS;
  • Master’s Degree in a relevant
    discipline.
  • Five years experience in NGO
    management at senior level in the areas or livelihood/food security, peace
    building, or health.
  • Letters of recommendation from two
    former employers.
Highly Desirable:
  • University degree in a discipline
    relevant to food security and livelihoods (such as economics, agronomy,
    agricultural economics and rural development)
  • Experience in livelihood
    programming and livelihood framework in recovery/ post conflict setting.
  • Experience of food security and
    livelihood assessments and monitoring in the design of interventions.
  • Experience or knowledge of working
    and living in North or Northeast Uganda.
