EMERGENCY Life
Support for Civilian War Victims (EMERGENCY) is an independent Italian
organization established in 1994 to offer high-quality, free medical and
surgical care to victims of war, landmines and poverty. It promotes a culture
of peace, solidarity and respect for human rights. In cooperation with Ministry
of Health, EMERGENCY is finalizing the construction of the Centre of Excellence
in Paediatric Surgery in Entebbe.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  The HSPPO performs the following tasks:

·       
Ensure that
the EMERGENCY observes an appropriate Occupational Health & Safety
Environment in line with OSHA requirements.

·       
Provide
professional advice and support to managers and staff in the identification of
health risks arising from work activity and issues at work that affect health
and wellbeing.

·       
Pay
particular attention to critical processes, which are: work at height,
underground work, kitchen sanitization management, and waste management.

·       
Ensure
that the EMERGENCY Health & Safety Policies are adhered to by all staff and
non-staff in EMERGENCY premises at all times and raise any concerns regarding
their operation, or any other Health & Safety matters with the appropriate
line manager.

·       
Keep up
to date with new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of all
occupational Health & Safety legislations and any developments that affect
the business.

·       
Providing
reports to stakeholders

·       
Perform
any other duties may be assigned from time to time

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The
ideal candidate must hold a diploma in a Health & Safety related field

·       
A
minimum of three years of experience in similar jobs

·       
Languages:
Fluent written and spoken English

·       
IT: user
level knowledge, very good knowledge of Microsoft Excel

·       
Bachelor’s
degrees in Safety, Health & Environment Management or related field is a
plus.

Working Conditions

·       
Contract of employment: 12 months contract (6 months’ probation
period) with possible extension

·       
Basic Salary: According to EMERGENCY salary scale

·       
Social benefits: GPA, National Social Insurance

·       
Holidays and leaves: according to the current law.

·       
Working place: Entebbe

·       
Starting date: March 2020
