About US:

SON Fish Farm Ltd is an established commercial tilapia fish
farm, incorporated in 2005, as a Limited company, the pioneer cage fish farming
on Lake Victoria and started operations in 2006. SON Fish Farm has its own
hatchery for tilapia seed production, using earthen ponds, the grow out is done
exclusively in cages, located in Lake Victoria. It sales and distributes whole
round fresh Tilapia fish in Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda, as Lake Harvest brand.
SON is part of Lake Harvest Group, with other operations in Kenya, Zimbabwe,
Zambia, Malawi, Botswana and South Africa. It is located in Bugungu Prison, Njeru
Municipality, Buikwe District and employs close to 100 staff directly and over
1000 people indirectly through fish trading and supply of farm inputs, across
East Africa.

Job Summary:  The Information Technology Technician will
ensure proper management and efficient IT systems to all users. S/he will
respond to all IT issues hardware maintenance, software, and networking and
maintain the farm’s database and set up and maintain the Management Information
Systems (MIS) and networking.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·       
Monitor networking equipment and servers

·       
Ensuring electrical safety standards on all IT
equipment are met.

·       
Assist with the design, implementation, and
ongoing support of new software and features

·       
Installing and configuring hardware and software
components to ensure usability

·       
Installing and upgrading anti-virus software to
ensure security at the user levels

·       
Monitor web performance, network availability
and security & backup

·       
Evaluate connectivity issues, equipment, and
software and provide helpdesk support for network issues.

·       
Be the first point of contact for error
reporting

·       
Performing tests and evaluations on new software
and hardware, modify configurations, utilities, software

·       
Set up equipment & Troubleshooting hardware
and software issues

·       
Repairing or replacing damaged hardware.

·       
Install, test, and monitor servers, firewalls,
and new software

·       
Install and update network system improvements
as needed

·       
Assist with Servers, LAN/WAN technologies,
computer repair/troubleshooting software, networks, virus protection, Wi-Fi
technology

·       
Managing technical documentation

·       
Upgrading systems to enable compatible software
on all computers at all times.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in
Computer Science or related field.

·       
2+ years’ experience in computer networks and
systems maintenance.

·       
2+ years’ experience working with network and
server management support

·       
Up-to-date knowledge of new systems,
information, software, and upgrades

·       
Skills in development and maintenance of IMS
including social media and understanding of web technologies & share point.

·       
Proficiency in database programming and software
installation

·       
Good written and verbal communication skills
& good interpersonal skills.

·       
Attention to detail and good problem-solving
skills.
